ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Elmore Leonard wrote forty-five novels across his six-decade career, including the bestsellers â€œRoad Dogs,â€ â€œUp in Honeyâ€™s Room,â€ â€œThe Hot Kid,â€ â€œMr. Paradise,â€ â€œTishomingo Blues,â€ and the critically acclaimed collection of short stories â€œWhen the Women Come Out to Dance.â€ Many of his books have been made into movies, including â€œGet Shorty,â€ â€œOut of Sight,â€ and â€œJackie Brown.â€ â€œJustified,â€ the hit series from FX, is based on Leonardâ€™s character Raylan Givens, who appears in â€œRiding the Rap,â€ â€œPronto,â€ the short story â€œFire in the Hole,â€ and the novel â€œRaylan.â€ Leonard received the National Book Foundationâ€™s Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, the Lifetime Achievement Award from PEN USA, and the Grand Master Award of the Mystery Writers of America. He was known to many as the â€œDickens of Detroitâ€ and had lived in the Detroit area since 1934.
