About the authors:
Jenna Roberts and Natalie Hagood
Jenna Roberts son Weston and Natalie Hagood daughter Chloe were diagnosed with autism before their second birthdays.
The two mothers met through a therapist who was working with both children. They became friends and realized their children's needs were very similar. Weston suffered from chronic stomach cramps and diarrhea, while Chloe had constant yeast infections as well as constipation. Both children saw the same specialist, who recommended the Specific Carbohydrate Diet.
Jenna and Natalie began the Specific Carbohydrate Diet for their children after reading "Breaking the Vicious Cycle." They helped each other with cooking and shared new recipe ideas. Within two weeks of being on the diet, Weston stopped having severe cramping and no longer had diarrhea. Shortly after that, Chloe's constipation disappeared and the yeast infections did not occur as often.
Within two months, both children showed tremendous gains in the therapy sessions and verbal skills. SCD did not cure their autism, but it did change their lives in a wonderful way. Both children are making progress daily and are happy, healthy little angels!
"Cooking to Heal Little Tummies" was written by Jenna and Natalie from recipes they developed for their children.
