Cozumel Reef Guide: for Divers and Snorkelers
This book is a guide for divers and snorkelers who are interested in diving and learning about the reefs in Cozumel, Mexico. Cozumel is one of the premier dive sites in the Caribbean. Cozumel Reef Guide has over 1000 color photos. Dive sites from both sides of the island as well as snorkeling sites from the shore and the boat are included with underwater photos of most sites.
This book provides an entire island map as well as four detailed maps of the west part of the island as well as GPS coordinates of the dive and snorkel sites. Each site comes with a description, and up to nine underwater photos which show that reef. The boat dive sites include a chart that tell you the kinds of creatures you might see on that particular site.
If you are interested in learning about all of the fish you will see, we have included an extensive fish ID chart for Cozumel. The fish ID chart has color photos of over 200 fish species found in Cozumel. In addition, you will see ID charts for sponges, coral and other creatures.
There is also a photo gallery which displays larger format photos of the authors favorite some of the best underwater photos from Cozumel. The gallery features turtles, sharks, rays, underwater landscapes, and interesting or unusual fish.
Also included is a section which tells about other dive and snorkeling opportunities near Cozumel, such as cenotes, whale sharks, sailfish, and bull sharks, along with color photos of those sites.
This book is in color, however, it will display just fine on a black and white reader. It will take a few minutes to download due to the amount of photographs included.
The photos and information were compiled over a period of six years and thousands of photos from hundreds of dives from author Joel Cotton, who lives in Cozumel part of the year. Joel is the creator of www.reefsofcozumel.com which is the popular online reef guide for Cozumel.
In addition, there is information about the island, important emergency telephone numbers, a dive log, and a link to our Tripadvisor reviews so you can check out which restaurants we recommend. We included a link to learning more about traveling to the island and getting around, where to stay and eat, etc.
Feel free to browse www.reefsofcozumel.com for a sample of the photos and maps that will be available to you when you purchase this book. This book has newer and more complete maps, photos and information.
We ask that you check out our reef conservation section and think about ways that you can help preserve the reef in Cozumel and the rest of the world. We have included a link that will give you more information about reef conservation.
This book will provide a nice keepsake to help you remember your diving experience in Cozumel. Your non-diving friends will also enjoy learning about the wonderland below the surface of the sea.
