Creative Coding Using Scratch (LEGO WeDo 2.0): The Elephant Dance
Scratch is a fully visual programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab for the purpose of teaching programming to teens and other first-time programmers.
Lego WeDo 2.0 is the newest product from LEGO® developed to engage and motivate young kids’ interest in learning science- and engineering-related subjects, through the use of motorized LEGO® models and simple programming.
When combining Scratch creative coding with LEGO WeDo 2.0 bricks and electronic parts, the coding and learning gets more fun! Children can build programs that interact with physical models, motors and sensors and explore more during the learning process.
This book is about a Scratch + WeDo 2.0 project, The Elephant Dance, which includes step-by-step instructions on how to build the elephant using LEGO bricks,as well as coding blocks that teach the little elephant to swing and dance by following the music beats.
It can be used for self-learning or in-classroom instruction. The whole process may take about 60 to 90 minutes to complete.
