This bundle contains everything you will need to make a big batch of vegetable soup in the Crockpot. Sometimes nothing beats slow-cooker cuisine?all you have to do is prep, toss in your ingredients, and let them simmer away for hours while you do something else. Whatever you decide to do with all that free time, you can count on having some delicious soup to sup on when you are done. This bundle contains about 8-10 different types of the best soup-making produce that your local farmers market has to offer. We are talking about tomatoes and onions, carrots and celery, and of course potatoes. We will also send a few of the most flavorful and nutrient-dense seasonal items your way, like garlic and green beans, turnips and parsnips, and savory herbs like rosemary, thyme and parsley. To make soup in your slow cooker: Wash and prep all of your ingredients, removing any stems or peels as desired. Chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces and add them to the Crockpot, along with enough broth or water to cover everything by at least a few inches. Feel free to add a little salt, and your favorite soup spices. Place the lid on top and cook on the high setting until the liquid comes to a boil. Then turn down to low and simmer for 4-8 hours, or until the firmest ingredients (like the potatoes) are fork tender. Check halfway through cooking to make sure the vegetables are still submerged in liquid, and add more as necessary. Season to taste with salt and pepper just before serving. All vegetables and herbs are sourced directly from local farms including Great Road Farm, Ort Farm, Pineland Farms, Happy Harvest Hydroponics, Terhune Orchards, Jeff's Organics, Russo's Orchard, Sandy Acres, Cranberry Hall Farms, Chickadee Creek Farm, Chia-Sin Farm, and Melick's Town Farm.
