Delta Ship 41 Douglas DC-3 Airplane Miniature Model Snap Fit 1:100 Part # ADC-00300C-005
Delta Air Lines took delivery of its first DC-3, NC28341 "Ship 41," on December 23, 1940, and placed it into service the next day. Ship 41 was in service with Delta until May 1958 when it went into service for North Central Airlines, later the aircraft changed hands several times and in 1996 Delta repurchased it and began the process of restoration. Ship 41 made its second debut with Delta, fully restored, in October 1999. The restoration effort took four years, thousands of man-hours, and a worldwide search for original parts, what could not be found was replicated exactly. The airplane was brought up to modern standards with the latest avionics and electrical systems, discreetly tucked behind vintage cockpit equipment. Today, Ship 41 is housed at the Delta Heritage Museum in Historic Hangar One. The restoration of this historic aircraft earned a National Preservation Honor Award from the National Trust for historic preservation. Ship 41 is the first aircraft ever to win this prestigious award.
