Destroy What You Enjoy
Destroy What You Enjoy marks the beginning of yet another unpredictable and no doubt anarchic chapter in the story of Powerman 5000, a band that seems to thrive and grow stronger with each passing rock 'n roll cataclysm. Filled with anthemic punk-inspired tunes and a gritty rock n' roll feel, Destroy What You Enjoy is both the next logical step and a huge leap forward in the continuing sonic evolution of Powerman 5000. With well over 1.5 million units sold in the United States over their career and over 200,000 on their last album alone (despite having their former label, DreamWorks, shut down midway through the album's cycle) PM5K has managed to retain its fan-base while that of their peers has slowly dwindled away. Part of the reason why Powerman has been able to maintain its place in the current rock market is their dedication to touring. The band spent most of 2005 on the road without an album to support . . . and 2006 will prove no different. The band will set out for a US headlining tour in early July and traverse the country straight through the end of September. The tour will coincide with a street marketing effort which began in April, a web banner campaign to begin in early June and a press campaign that should see national publications streeting with features and reviews right around release date. A multi-format rock radio campaign for the lead single 'Wild World' a summertime anthem complete with a dizzying guitar hook will complete the setup for Destroy What You Enjoy.
