DictionRe contains some 2,900 English language reinsurance terms (just over approx. 285,000 words), phrases, acronyms and shorthand / contractions, both commonly used in live markets (London (Companies & Lloyd’s), Bermuda and U.S. markets), as well as esoteric references from past markets which are still relevant for legacy business and the run-off acquisition and consolidation sector. The 6th ('2017') edition includes many insurance entries which we think relevant also.
Definitions are extracted from and attributed to the formal work of Governments, Regulators, Court Judgments, Appeals, Arbitration Awards, and learned commentators who have all helped enrich the meaning and intended effect of reinsurance terms and phrases over recent decades.
