Hiking the Wonderland Trail: The Complete Guide to Mount Rainier's Premier Trail
Backpacker Magazine (Dec. 2000) rated this as THE best trail guide for the Wonderland Trail. It's a really practical book, telling things such as which direction to go, where to stay, what to take and not take, when's the best time to do it, every known water source, where to expect to meet the bears and see the goats.
This is one tough trail, and entails climbing well over 20,000 feet and descending another 20,000. You'll do enough climbing to have climbed Mount Rainier 2-1/2 times. Mount Rainier's weather is also explained, and the reader knows to expect lots of rain and possibly even snow, even in August and September.
The one question just about all hikers ask each other is "have you got 'the book'?" And this is the book to get.
