Fathoms below the ocean€s surface, Ariel swims in her rocky grotto of human treasures. Thanks to her best fish friend, Flounder, the romantic mermaid now has a magnificent statue of handsome Prince Eric. Gazing lovingly at the statue, Ariel admires how much the monument looks like her true love, as it even, she observes, has his eyes. This hand painted piece, crafted by acclaimed folk artist Jim Shore, authentically captures but uniquely interprets the well-known characters from Disney€s The Little Mermaid (1989). In addition to the youngest daughter of King Triton, this hand-carved appearing sculpture also features loyal Flounder, as always swimmingly supporting his lovely friend. Lovable Sebastian the crab is also showcased, for even though the court composer and conductor is often comically appalled by what he considers the young princess€s rebellious behavior, he too can€t help but be delighted by her devotion. These beloved characters from Disney€s The Little Mermaid (1989) are irresistibly posed in front of an oversized storybook, its open pages forming an engaging backdrop, adorned with a folk-art inspired pattern. The film€s logo is emblazoned on the cover of the storybook on the reverse side of the background. Enhanced with charming motifs and design elements, this romantic Jim Shore work is an enchanting homage to The Little Mermaid.
