'The Iron Butterfly' and 'Bricktop' are two names with which you will probably be totally unfamiliar. To be told that, together, they produced some truly magical moments on cinema screen around the world might leave you completely mystified. All will becomes clear however when it is revealed that these are nicknames by which Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy were known to their closest friends. Jeanette's because of her unsparing iron determination in achieving all her aims and Nelson's, to more than his closest associates, because of the bright red hair he sported in his early years, although by the time he reached his thirties it had begun to turn silvery, producing an unusual blond effect which set more than a few female hearts a-flutter. Forever linked in the public as a singing duo, in fact, Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy only ever recorded five duets together for commercial release, although their combined efforts did feature a lot more on film. This new Jasmine CD includes the five duets, plus a selection of solo titles from each of these inimitable artists. All the favourite songs are here like "Indian Love Call", "Ah! Sweet Mystery Of Life", "Stout-Hearted Men" and "Rose-Marie".
