Dutch cuisine is particularly inspired by the agricultural and farming history of the Netherlands. Although the cuisine varies by region with specific products, there are some typical Dutch dishes and ingredients. Dutch firm and nutritious meals are often tailored to the predominantly physical work that the Dutch did in the past.
The dutch soups include eg.: Pea soup or pea soup: a thick soup of peas, a large number of variations exist. Depending on taste, and it's region pork and / or sheep is used, potatoes, celery, onion, leek and sausage or "rookworst". Pea soup is often served with dark rye bread with butter and bacon. Brown bean soup, compositionally similar to pea soup, but where the peas were replaced with beans. Brown bean soup is usually less bound than pea soup. Humkessoep, a light-based soup with potatoes, green beans and white beans.
