All position welding of heat resistant 22-25% chromium and 12-13% nickel stainless steels such as 309/309L to itself, to other austenitic Cr-Ni grades such as 304L, 308L, 310, 316L, 321 or 347 as well as martensitic grades 410, 420, 431, and ferritic stainless grades such as 430, 442, and 446; all of these stainless steel grades can be welded to each other or to mild and carbon steels
***READ THIS: The images are for reference only. Please check Picture #2 for an approximate quantity of electrodes per pound***
The low carbon content of this electrode (0.04% C) preserves the intergranular corrosion resistant properties of the weld deposit and ensures a higher ferrite content than standard 309-16; most 309L-16 weld deposits are greater than 8 FN.
Weld deposits exhibit high resistance to cracking and oxidation at temperatures up to 2000 °F. Excellent for welding dissimilar steels or overlaying unalloyed structural steels found in furnace parts, kiln linings, heat treatment containers, forging and castings in chemical, petrochemical, power generation and pharmaceutical industries.
These Electrodes are available in Sizes: 3/32" and 1/8" - Available Packages: 0.5 Lb, 2 Lb and 4.4 Lb - Select your option from the Size Menu - Check Picture #2 for an approximate number of electrodes per pound - 3/32" electrodes are 12" long and 1/8" electrodes are 14" long
E309L-16 STAINLESS STEEL ELECTRODE AWS A5.4 Welding Positions: All, except vertical down AC & DC+ (reverse polarity) INTRODUCTION: Rutile-basic coated, high-alloy stick electrode. Designed for joining stainless steel to mild or low alloy steel. Can be welded in any position except vertical down. Joint welding on heat-resistant CrNi steels. Self-removing slag, very low spatter tendency. For dissimilar joints and buffer layers. Excellent ignition and re-ignition characteristics. Maximum operating temperature 300 °C APPLICATIONS: Austenite-ferrite joints (dissimilar), cladding, corrosion-resistant layers on non-alloyed construction steels, buffer layers. Joining stainless steel to mild or low alloy steel WELDING PARAMETERS: Polarity Current (Amps) 3/32" (2.4 mm) 1/8" (3.2 mm) 5/32" (4.0 mm) DC+ 40-70 60-100 90-140 AC 40-70 60-100 90-140 CHEMICAL COMPOSITION (%): Chemical Composition C Mn Si S P Requirement ?0.15 0.50 ~ 2.50 ?1.00 ?0.030 ?0.040 Typical test result 0.055 1.45 0.70 0.009 0.021 Chemical Composition Cr Ni Mo Cu Requirement 22.0 ~ 25.0 12.0 ~ 14.0 ?0.75 ?0.75 Typical test result 24.25 12.75 0.035 0.10 MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF DEPOSITED METAL: Test Item Rm(N/mm2) A (%) Requirement ?550 ?25 Typical test result 595 40 The above parameters are for reference purpose and depend on diverse factors.
