Membrillo is a jelly/paste made from quince, a medieval Mediterranean fruit that is the European predecessor of the apple. The resulting jelly is a natural companion to a well-cured Manchego cheese and any strongly flavored cheese, especially an aged Crottin or Garrotxa. It can also be used instead of jam on bread, turnovers and other pastries. Ingredients: quince, sugar, gelling agent (pectin), acidity regulator (citric acid) and preserver (benzoic acid). Store in a cool dry place & avoid direct sunlight.
