Essential Principles of Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation
Essential Principles of Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation is a study guide for groups or individuals who want to meet the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Industry Standards and those preparing for the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Certification Examination process. The book tells you what to study (resource books are not included), what you should learn from it, suggests activities to help you learn, lists words you should know and then tests your knowledge. Three resource books are suggested if the reader wants knowledge, not just a preview of testing. Those books are AQUATICS The Complete Reference Guide for Aquatic Fitness Professionals 2nd Edition by Ruth Sova, Aquatic Fitness Professional Manual 6th Edition by the Aquatic Exercise Association, and Introduction to Aquatic Therapy and Rehab by Ruth Sova. The first two are recommended (and good additions to your library) and both are available through amazon.com. The Introduction to Aquatic Therapy and Rehab manual is free when taking the Intro to Aquatic Therapy course (in person or online - atri.org) and can only be purchased through Adolph Kiefer and Associates kiefer.com. Each chapter of this guide correlates with one of the six Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Industry Standards (available free at atri.org) with chapters in the resource books. The format closely follows educational curriculum guidelines to make learning more effective. The Foundation, or what you are expected to know, is listed first. Next you ll find a list of Learning Materials or resource books to help you study, which are followed by the Objectives for the chapter. The Implementation Activities to help you apply the knowledge may take some time but will expand your knowledge beyond intellectual thought. These are activities to assist in the comprehension of the concepts for each of the Aquatic Therapy and Rehabilitation Industry Standards. Key Words are terms you should be able to use in a sentence. Review them before taking the Self Test. There are over 200 self test questions to test your knowledge and give you a feel for the exam. In some chapters you ll find a category called Supplementary Learning Materials. This will list optional sources for more in-depth information if you want to increase your knowledge base. A Glossary, Resources and the answers to the Self Test are found in Chapter Seven.
