Fabric 57 :
Shrink-wrapped
Hot on the heels of his well-received Impermanence artist album, the French techno figurehead presents one of the most diverse and meticulous sets to hit the fabric series to date. S©bastien Devaud, aka Agoria, grew up in rural France. Hearing Inner City's `Good Life' at the age of 12 was the catalyst for his life in electronic music. His next revelation was witnessing Jeff Mills using three turntables and a drum machine, creating something new, rather than just playing records. Throwing parties and DJing soon led to production. Within 2 years, his 2001 track `La Onzi¨me Marche' brought global recognition. He followed this up with a series of 12"s and the LPs `Blossom' and `The Green Armchair', working with the likes of Tricky and Neneh Cherry along the way, before soundtracking Luc Besson & Olivier Van Hoofstadt's film `Go Fast'. Agoria established his InFin© label in 2006, which has provided an outlet for Agoria's own releases, alongside artists such as Francesco Tristano, Apparat and Danton Eeprom. His third artist album `Impermanence' was released in early 2011 and heralded as his strongest LP to date. `fabric 57' is as ambitious in range and technique as Agoria's earlier contributions to the `At The Controls' and `Balance' series. Jazz greats drift almost imperceptibly into and out of house and techno heavyweights. Layers and snippets of each track are interwoven throughout the duration, making fabric 57 as much an orchestral composition as it is a DJ mix.
