THE CRIME
Born into one of America's wealthiest families, John du Pont lived a life of power and privilege. He was a fanatic benefactor to the wrestling foundation that endowed champion Dave Schultz. Despite their different backgrounds, the middle-class wrestler tried to be a friend to the lonely millionaire, but Schultz's attempts cost him his life-gunned down by du Pont on his sprawling Pennsylvania estate. Then the siege began.

The local police--many of whom had practiced with du Pont on his shooting range--knew him to be a keen marksmen who kept an arsenal of weapons. Surrounding his mansion--and knowing that he had already killed once--the lawmen braced for a bloody confrontation that ended safely with du Pont's apprehension.
