Forge Valley

A group of misfits, led by a man who has lost everything that matters in his life, are offered a second chance: As part of an alien experiment, they must take a leap into the unknown, to a place where they and everything they have will be needed. They find themselves in the middle of the American Revolution at it's most desperate hour. Some of them seek wealth and power. Some seek to avoid conflicts which were to later wound the United States deeply, issues of slavery, the rights of native Americans and human rights. Some have their own agenda.
As they go into action, they deal with men who have become all but legend in American history: George Washington, Benedict Arnold, Nathaniel Greene, General William Howe and a host of characters pulled from the history books in their all-too-imperfect humanity.
Trying to help, the "Moderns" are embroiled in the conflicts of the day. They try to help Washington's battered, starving army. Too late, they discover that their actions may have provoked a British response that could destroy the very thing they came back in time to help.
An honorable mention winner in the Suduvu Writing Contest of 2011, Forge Valley is an adventure, an alternate history novel, and a look at our nations heroes and legends from a slightly different perspective.
