Northwest Territorial Mint Fort Jackson, SC Challenge Coin
1 3/4 inch (44mm) Round
Brass with Enamel
The US Army Fort Jackson coin commemorates Fort Jackson as the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the United States Army. The obverse of this bold coin expresses precisely what Fort Jackson's mission is: "Where America's Warriors are Born." Fifty percent of all soldiers and 70 percent of the women entering the Army experience the tough and disciplined Army Basic Training-'Boot Camp'-at Fort Jackson. Each year, in excess of 50,000 focused and dedicated "warriors" are born.
As one might expect, Fort Jackson is host to Drill Sergeant School, to become the Army's only Drill Sergeant School. Other missions are served as well: the Fort is home to the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the U.S. Army Chaplains Center and School, and the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (polygraph technology).
This Fort Jackson coin is rugged and handsome, displaying the distinct Fort Jackson and U.S. Army Training Center Unit Insignia, highlighted in rich enamels. The reverse of the coin is the Great Seal, surrounded by "United States Army" and eight stars.
