Frumps to Pumps - Your one-month motivotional to getting dressed and staying that way!
A little frumptastic, eh? You're not alone.
“Mommy, pleeeeeeeeeeeease get me some cereal?!â€
“Yep, okay, I’m up {pull covers closer}…just give me a minute {ahem, 10 more minutes)…â€
You get up (finally!), and look for something comfortable…warm…soft…easy. You make your way to the kitchen and start making breakfast (ahem, coffee) and the babes something to eat. Time goes by and the day has begun.
And you’re still not dressed.
Not really anyway. You wouldn’t venture out to the coffee shop like this (maybe the drive through, but that’s it), and you sure as heck wouldn’t show up for lunch at your husband’s work looking like you do…all disheveled and slightly stinky (have you brushed your teeth yet?).
And here you are just a wee bit (I’m being nice) frumptastic for your family. How do you feel? Do you feel productive or lazy? Energized or tired? Pretty, or… {shudder}.
When I don’t at least put on some jeans and a cute shirt, a bit of makeup (hey, if the barn needs painted, paint it), and do something with this Mufasa hair of mine, I feel lazy, icky, and tired. I would hide if my husband brought someone home unexpectedly. Sure, I’m comfortable, and who really has time to look nice with little ones who need fed and a home taken care of? I mean surely if I had a maid and mother’s helper I’d get dressed, right? Right?!
Maybe.
But that’s not the point. The point is, I think we’ll feel better about ourselves and be better (happier) mamas, wives, and homemakers if we take care of ourselves in the little things.
And that is what Frumps to Pumps is all about. Getting into the habit of getting dressed so we can love people (and ourselves) well. When we're dressed, we're more hospitable, more inclined to get things done, play with our children, feel energized, and look nice for our men.
If you struggle with the frump slump, this faith-based book is for you. It's in the form of a motivational, so it's a mix of motivation and devotional.
