Fugue State

Fugue State represents the first all-new work by Poet Bill Berkson - a founding member of the New York school of poets and artists - in over a decade. As always, these poems risk seismic upheavals along the fault line of language's slippery edge. A bold follow up to last year's Serenade, a collaboration with the late artist Joe Brainerd, by the author of Lush Life, and Saturday Night.

Poet and art critic Bill Berkson figured prominently in the New York school of the 50s and 60s. He is the author of 13 books of poetry, including Saturday Night, Enigma Variations, Lush Life, and Serenade. He is a corresponding editor for Art in America, and a frequent contributor to ArtForum and Modern Painters. He lives in San Francisco.
