Funky Meters - Live From The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

New Orleans’ Funky Meters are one of the most powerful live acts around, and there’s no better place to see them than at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, in front of a mix of in-the-know locals and rabidly enthusiastic out-of-towners. Luckily, camera crews were on hand to capture the Funky Meters’ unforgettable show at the 2000 JazzFest, resulting in this amazing DVD.

Widely considered to be the founding fathers of funk, The Meters spent the ’60 and ’70s perfecting their unique musical blend, which incorporates blues and dance grooves with a New Orleans vibe. They’ve backed Paul McCartney in the studio, toured the world with the Rolling Stones, and been covered by Widespread Panic and The Grateful Dead. Along the way, the band has continued to fuse their individual styles into a distinct sound that wins fans with each performance. And fans new and old will be won over by this performance, available now for the first time on DVD.
