Wilhelm Furtwangler had a unique conducting technique. He saw symphonic music as creations of nature that could only be realized subjectively into sound. This is why composers such as Beethoven and Brahms were so central to Furtwangler's repertoire, because he identified them as great forces of nature. This disc of live, never before released recordings features Mozart's fortieth and Brahms' fourth symphonies, taken from a 1949 concert with the Berlin Philharmonic in Wiesbaden, Germany.
