Crying would not be possible without the power of nostalgia. The New York-based band is a blend of all things old-school: they mix an understated 90’s emo influence, the spirit of punk in their original vision, and, most notably, the prominent use of a Gameboy programmed into their songs. Their first release on Run For Cover includes the critically acclaimed self-released EP, “Get Olde,†and a set of new songs on the EP “Second Wind.†All of the thirteen songs have an upbeat eloquence, but the highlight of the album is vocalist Elaiza Santos, who beautifully navigates through the unpredictable grooves of each song and makes herself the centerpiece of the soundtrack.
