The instructions or lack of instructions is the biggest problem customers have. You have to attach both the inlet and outlet hose on the pump then attached the drill. Start by putting the input hose into the water you want to remove and slowly submerge the hose into the water making sure no air bubbles form. Next submerge the pump (not the drill) and finally the outlet hose until all items are under water. Then start the drill and slowly lift the outlet hose from the water to the place you want the water to go. If you do the above the drill works every time.
