Jake, a devoted nurse and generally happy guy, settled a long time ago. Rather than become a doctor, he took on home care. Instead of finding a relationship, he has lived his life mostly single and spends his free time with his friend, Alice. He doesn’t question any of this, until he gets a new patient, Scott.
Scott, a writer, is confined to a wheelchair, covered in stitches and wallowing in his own self-pity after a vicious attack. Jake is determined to find out who hurt him, but Scott isn’t talking. What’s more, Scott seems to have more secrets than Jake ever thought possible. Slowly, Jake starts to become obsessed with his new patient and all the mystery in his life.
Little by little, Scott starts to share his life with Jake and even asks for his help with a new book. The more Jake starts to see his patient smile, the more his heart starts to jump up at the sight of it. However, the mysteries remain. What’s in the locked drawer of Scott’s desk? Who is the strange man who keeps coming to the door and why would someone want to beat up such a nice guy?
Jake soon finds himself embroiled in Scott’s complicated past, but more importantly, he starts to fall for him. He doesn’t quite know how he can be attracted to such an odd guy, but no matter how many secrets Scott has, Jake just can’t seem to pull away.
