Hell's Dozen: The 12 Worst Serial Killers of Modern History
People tend to consider serial killers such as David Berkowitz (Son of Sam), Angelo Buono Jr. and Kenneth Bianchi (the Hillside Stranglers) or even the uncaptured Zodiac killer as the worst of the worst when it comes to serial killers. Yet, would it shock those same people to learn that there are dozens of more depraved, sick and unfortunately prolific killers in the world?
Perversely, US serial killers have gained notoriety through the media, whether it is the nightly news which tends to adhere to the axiom “if it bleeds, it leads….â€, or even through our justice system which in the pursuit of transparency in the court room, has transformed trials into entertainment spectacles which are the equivalent of a soap opera.
However, notoriety does not equal number of victims, for out of the dozen killers profiled in this book, only one American - Gary Ridgway (the Green River Killer) – is on the list – and even then only at #10.
This book will list the 12 most prolific serial killers in modern history; those for whom killing is an up close and personal relationship. Humans for whom the cries of their victims’ pain, fear and despair give the same if not more pleasure than the touch of a lover or the hug of child.
