Isobel Campbell has been captured and forced into service at Duntulm Castle. Her attempts to escape prove futile. Her only hope is to gain an audience with clan leader, James MacDonald. One evening, she unexpectedly discovers him down by the beach. He is avoiding a forced engagement, but Isobel cares little about the reason for his presence.
This is her chance. She presents her case, but he instantly rejects her plea. Strange occurrences ensue, giving Isobel repeated run-ins with James. When she starts to fall for the engaged clan leader—the man who is virtually her captor—she becomes desperate. Only when she is ruthlessly attacked, does her freedom become possible. Does she still want it, even if it means never seeing James again?
