History of the All-America Football Conference
From 1946 to 1949, the National Football League received one of the sternest challenges of its entire existence--the challenge presented by the rival All-America Football Conference. Despite being the birthplace of the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers, not to mention the original stomping grounds of 15 future Pro Football Hall of Famers, including Otto Graham, Paul Brown, Elroy 'Crazy Legs' Hirsch, and Marion Motley, very little in the way of historical narrative has been done on the AAFC before now. The product of many hours of exhaustive research, 'History of the All-America Football Conference' offers the most thorough overview of the league ever offered. Covering both the familiar, such as those cited above, as well as the long forgotten (Glenn Dobbs, Spec Sanders, Alyn Beals, the Lost Angeles Dons), 'History of the All-America Football Conference' is an important and long-overdue contribution to the documented history of pro football.
