The Volkswagen Caddy, released in 1979 as the Volkswagen Rabbit pickup for the North American truck market to compete with the Subaru Brat, a similarly-sized vehicle available at the same time. Interestingly, the name Volkswagen Caddy was only used outside of the North American market.
