This is the memoir of Doris A. Murphy I.H.M. also known as Sister Peter. Her story spans 90 years of her life - 73 of those years dedicated to God as an Immaculate Heart of Mary Sister and then as an I.H.M. Community member. Her life experiences are not what one would expect for a Nun. Teacher, Principle and Supervisor of over 50 Catholic schools, Sister Peter completed her Masters and received a Fulbright Scholarship for studies in India in the 1960s. Upon her return from India she joined into the battle waged between the I.H.M.s and their Cardinal who refused to allow the modernization of religious orders allowed by Vatican II. The outcome resulted in the firing of all I.H.M. teachers and principals from the Los Angeles Catholic Schools. These were schools that the I.H.M. Sisters had managed for over 100 years. Facing the challenges of a new way of life, Sister Peter became Doris Murphy once again. Doris continues today to uphold the vows she made to God those many years ago. A story of lifelong dedication and unexpected adventures. Even for a Nun.
