How to Start Up and Make Money in a Small Engine Repair Business
Since March of 2014, I have taken a small garage based business in a small city of just over 6,000 people and have hit over $80,000 in sales 2017. Now when I say small, my garage is 25' X 25' of actual working space and I don't have any employees, it's just me. I knew very little about small engine repair before I started my business and had some basic tools such as wrenches, sockets and screwdrivers etc,. After a little market research, I determined that this was an area that was viable to start a small engine repair business, so I did very little advertising and expected that I would do $5,000 in my first year from March - December 2014. Well, I guess I underestimated that by a long shot and grossed over $28,000! With more advertising, the next year it doubled to $58,000, year 3 went to $67,000 and it looks to hit $80,000 in 2017. And this is just repair work only. I do not sell any new equipment although I do fix up used equipment to sell. If I can do this in the 2nd poorest state in the nation, you should be able to do as well or better!
