Songs Of Migration marks a creative high point in the long and celebrated career of the legendary South African musician Hugh Masekela. Songs Of Migration was introduced at the famed Market Theater in Johannesburg in 2010 to an overwhelming reception. It 's theme is how people the world over brought their music with them when they were forced to migrate from their original homelands. Masekela felt the music contained in the show should be shared by a wider audience. He recruited old friend Stewart Levine who had produced all of his earliest records including "Grazing In The Grass'' to produce an album of selections from the show. Included as one of the twenty songs chosen is a definitive performance of the Masekela classic ''STIMELA.'' Another highlight is a stunning performance of the classic "MY YIDDISHE MAMA'' An absolutely stunning and dramatically original recording.
