Many of us think of glucose sugar as the base fuel for the functions of the body, and in a way this is correct, but in the end every thermal, mechanical, electrical, and chemical action made by the body is fueled through four processes that create our most basic fuel source: Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). This text explains what ATP (as well as ADP/AMP) is, how it works, and the four systems that create and renew this ultimately vital resource, framed within the need of the human body to live and move.
This text is semi-technical, and is fit for the semi-lay-person. Some background in chemistry will be highly useful, but a degree or professional expertise is not required.
