Arbor Scientific Ice Melting Blocks, Thermal Conductivity Experiment Kit Includes 1 Aluminum Block, 1 Foam Block, 2 O-Rings and Instructions
An intriguing way to demonstrate the different rates at which materials can conduct heat.
Simply place an O-ring on each block along with an ice cube and observe the rates at which the ice cubes melt.
The experiment proves aluminum is a better conductor of heat than high-density foam.
Includes: 1 Black aluminum block, 1 black high-density foam block, 2 rubber O-rings, and instructions.
Dimensions: 4” Square blocks and 3.75” diameter O-rings.
Touch these two black blocks, and one feels cooler. Place an ice cube on each block. One completely melts before your eyes, while the other stays frozen! Surprisingly, the "cooler" block melts the ice faster! This discrepant event introduces many concepts, including heat transfer, change of state, and thermal conductivity.
