Initial green color becomes intense green indelible mark. PencilThings Select Indelible Ink Pencil - green indelible aniline dye lead. Characteristics comparable to the discontinued Eberhard Faber Mongol colored indelible pencils. PencilThings Select Indelible Green Ink Pencil lead writes as if it were a hard green colored pencil, but it is indelible. If you write very lightly and erase very carefully with a vinyl eraser in a dry environment, the markings will erase. The indelibility is due to the dyeing of the surface written upon, which is "fixed" by writing firmly, by the rubbing action of mechanical erasure, and further intensified by dampening or exposure to humid environments (your "hot, foggy" breath close to the markings will do). Writing on a damp surface immediately fixes the dye. This lead breaks a little more easily than standard pencil lead does. The aniline dye component weakens the lead slightly as compared with usual clay/graphite leads. We suggest sharpening it to a short point, rather than a long one. (The larger 11mm hole in a two-hole hand-held sharpener gives a nice tip.) The body of this is hexagonal and is not capped or supplied with a point protector. (The body of our finished product will be round, permanently capped on one end with a metal ferrule and supplied with a plastic point protector.) The pencils feature the same green lead as PencilThings Select Indelible Green Ink Pencil will, and is imprinted as "Musgrave's Harvest 615" -- a pencil discontinued by Musgrave in 2010. If you already are familiar with the discontinued Mongol Colored Indelible Pencils ("Paint with Pencils") then you "know" this pencil. It is not identical, however. So we encourage you to obtain a sample from the PencilThings online Web store before purchasing a substantial quantity. The lead and pencil are manufactured exclusively for PencilThings in the U.S.A.
