Infrared Kit for Blue Jeans Cable HDMI Switch
This optional infrared relay kit is made to accompany the Blue Jeans Cable HDMI Switch, which is also sold on Amazon; to find the switch, enter B0038SQQ0Y in the search box.
The infrared kit consists of three parts: one infrared receiver module with attached cable (approx. 4 1/2 feet long) to connect it to the switch or to the included HDMI cable dongle, one infrared transmitter module with attached cable to connect it to the switch, and one HDMI cable dongle which allows the user to use the CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) line on the HDMI cable to relay infrared signals backward along the HDMI cable from the display to the switch.
This kit can be used in either of two ways:
First, if one wishes to place the HDMI switch in a location where it cannot "see" the signals coming in from an infrared remote, the infrared receiver module can be plugged in to the incoming IR jack on the switch; the switch will now respond to infrared signals "seen" by the receiver module.
Second, if one wishes to place the switch with a rack of source devices which are out of range of, or blocked from seeing, the remote, one can plug the HDMI dongle into the display's HDMI jack, and then connect the HDMI cable through the dongle; the infrared receiver module is plugged in to the dongle, and the infrared transmitter module is plugged in to the switch. Now, infrared remote signals "seen" by the receiver unit will be relayed backward down the HDMI cable to the switch, and re-transmitted by the infrared transmitter module to operate the switch and/or other devices which are located with the switch.
