Folk, country, Western swing, Tin Pan Alley jazz you'll come across 'em all on a Dan Hicks album. This 1978 LP never had the chance to test the market; it was a soundtrack to an animated film that got shelved. A reworked version of the film came out in '82, but not with this music-which was a shame, 'cause this is a joyous example of Hicks' patented musical merriment. It's also VERY collectible, as it was on vinyl only briefly and on CD as a pricey Japanese import. This limited-edition CD (4,500 copies) contains the complete LP, three alternate takes and six cuts from a subsequent session!
