Sullivan, usually drunk and always surrounded by people, in New York numerous times, as well as the vaudeville shows of Corbett, Fitz, and John L. when they appeared on the New York stage. He saw the great black boxers of the era- Joe Walcott, Peter Jackson, George Dixon, Joe Gans- not once, but numerous times in some instances- and other greats, like Jack "Nonpareil" Dempsey, Kid Lavigne, Young Griffo, Joe Choynski, and Jack McAuliffe.
