Jet winced at not only the volume of Skylerâ€™s voice, but her words as well.
â€œI canâ€™t leave them there, Skyâ€¦â€ Jet said her voice tremulous.
â€œJet, they might be dead alreadyâ€¦â€ Skyler said her voice gentle.
â€œI know, I know,â€ Jet said, nodding, â€œBut I need to know, and Iâ€™ve reached out to every contact I still have over there and nothingâ€¦ Raqqaâ€™s gone completely dark.â€
â€œThatâ€™s what ISIS does, Jetâ€¦â€ Skyler said her look searching.
Jet shook her head, swallowing against the lump in her throat.
â€œYou donâ€™t understandâ€¦â€ Jet said her tone more dismal than Skyler had ever heard it.
â€œHelp me understand,â€ Skyler said.
â€œThey had a daughter,â€ Jet said, â€œShe took care of me. Theyâ€™ll rape her until sheâ€™s dead.â€
