It adheres readily, and forms a gasket when the ends are overlapped, so even sealing vertical flanges is a one-person job. Extremely versatile and easy-to-install, Sur-Seal Inc 100 percent petrel joint sealant, also known as sealing cord, is a cost-effective solution for large steel flanges in general-use applications. Joint sealant, the first Form-IN-Place gasket is a time-tested sealing solution for steel flanges with large diameters, rectangular or irregular shapes, and rough or pitted surfaces. When compressed, this soft, conformable cord forms a thin yet strong seal. It can also seal applications where available bolt loads are low. Joint sealant is a standard sealing material for many DIY projects and MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) teams because it seals reliably â€“ and because it's easy and cost-effective to install. For most applications, just peel off the adhesive backing, apply to the surface, and overlap the ends. No wasteful scrap and PTFE is not subject to aging and can be stored indefinitely. Joint sealant can be used in all types of chemical service applications over the entire 0-14 pH range except for molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine. A positive, reliable seal is routinely achieved on all flange materials and in all processing conditions under 500Â° F (315Â° C); minimum temperature -450 F. A variety of sizes is readily available. Sur-Seal Inc of NJ style #Ssi1500 made of PTFE have proven their long-term reliability under extreme operating conditions over the course of many years. Joint sealant is easy to compress and exhibits excellent resistance to creep and cold flow and requires a low stress-to-seal.
