Each bead measures approximately 15-19 x 22-28mm with a hole size of 3-4mm. Beads are typically strung on cotton, or raffia as shown in photo.

The procedure for making the beads consists of a number of steps whereby powdered glass is poured into molds of clay and baked in a specialized oven. These beads are produced in large part by the Krobo tribe and are environmentally friendly. Because of the size of these beads, it is not uncommon for a strand to have a few beads with internal fractures.
