Fabric bundle of 42 5-inch squares from the My Unicorn collection by designer Kelly Panacci for Riley Blake Designs. I know I'm not alone in my fascination with unicorns. These mythical creatures are elusive and magical and have captivated people for thousands of years. When I was a student in art college, I studied them while researching the tapestries of Stirling Castle in Scotland. With gouache paints I recreated details of those medieval artworks not knowing that many years later I would design a fabric collection on the same subject. Now that I'm a grandma, I think of my grandchildren when I work on my fabric designs. I try to create appealing images that tell a story and take the viewer on an imaginary journey. My Unicorn is a collection about a herd of beautiful white unicorns living in a tranquil and wondrous world. Not far off in the distance is a castle with a foot bridge over a babbling brook. Who lives there? We're not sure, we'll leave that to your imagination.
