THE LONG CLAWS : The Ancients Locked the Gates. The Locks Have Broken.
Prehistoric men locked them out. The lock broke.
"Great Scary Story." Pat Conroy "I slept with the lights on for two weeks." “The world of the Long Claws is a terrifying hell.â€
Cut off by rain-swollen rivers: an old veteran with a secret, a runaway teenage boy who doesn't fit in, and a Cherokee medicine woman face horrific creatures – the Long Claws, a clan of cunning beings equipped to track and kill with speed and strength like nothing before. In their world, the only cause of death is by predators. To sleep is to die. Staying in the same place too long invites death. Their world offers a landscape of parched, broken earth with active volcanoes in every direction. Thick, sulfur-ladened clouds hang low concealing creatures flying above. Oases of plants wait patiently to kill and turn anything that enters into nourishment for their roots. All life has a niche that allows it to survive – for a short time. The Long Claws exist on stealth, speed and cunning. They live and kill in clans, their numbers win against larger but single creatures. Their intelligence helps them against pack beasts. In their legends exists a paradise of slow-moving creatures thick with blood. One clan leader wants to find it. Long Claws stumbled into our world twenty-five thousand years ago. Ancient tribes of humans, no match at fighting the fearsome creatures, learned how to use great, quartz-lined stones to seal the doors between worlds. The Long Claws do not come in anger, rage or revenge. They come to eat. It is their nature to kill and consume food. They are without human emotions. They are intelligent. They have a social structure. They possess forty million years of genetic evolution driving survival. They want to stay here, hidden and breed. There can be no witnesses to their existence.
