Northwest Territorial Mint Lackland AFB Engravable Challenge Coin
The sole processing center for Air Force enlisted Basic Military Training, Lackland Air Force Base is home to the United States' newest Air Force recruits and the best trainers in the world. Located in San Antonin, Texas, the base is home to multiple capabilities beyond training, including surveillance, operations, and cyberspace.
Lackland AFB is best known for its role as the sole location for U.S. Air Force enlisted Basic Military Training for the Active Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard. Basic Military Training is organized into 9 basic training squadrons, each with their own training site on the base. Lackland, like many other Air Education and Training Command bases, also trains enlisted airmen out of basic training in a specific specialty via various "tech schools." Lackland has multiple technical training squadrons on base training airmen in various Air Force Specialty Codes.
Minted in solid nickel, and hand-finished with an antique patina, this coin is dedicated to the men and women of Lackland AFB, who make it possible for regular Americans to live their lives in peace. The obverse features the MTI monument of male and female training officers found on base, along with the entrance sign and two F-22 Raptors soaring overhead. The reverse displays a set of Hap Arnold Wings, with red enamel accent, below an engravable area suitable for names, dates, and remembrances of special occasions.
