At the helm was the legendary engineer Rudy Van Gelder, who simulated nightclub sets at his studio. Virtually every one of the 32 tracks in this collection, chronologically sequenced, has become a classic - making up such iconic albums as Miles, Cookin', Relaxin', Workin', Steamin' and Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants. Includes a 52-page booklet with annotation by esteemed Jazz historian Bob Blumenthal, plus audio recordings from eight TV and radio performances by the quintet, and printable transcriptions of 5 of Davis' trumpet solos.
