Mainers enjoy the simple life. The state motto is Maine - The Way Life Should Be, and most Mainers believe that completely. They speak with a strange accent, they hunt, they fish, some live without indoor plumbing, and most wouldnâ€™t have it any other way.
Lettahs From Maine is a humorous collection of fifty fictional letters from a simple Mainer to his brother in Florida. The letters, written in very strong Maine dialect, cover the years 1976-2000 and touch on events occurring during those years, such as Elvis Presleyâ€™s death and the Star Wars movies, from the Mainerâ€™s perspective. They also describe his comical interaction with friends and family- from the wild sister who wants to leave Maine because it is too backwards, to the disappointment of a son who doesnâ€™t enjoy hunting and fishing.
