Little Use For Death (Emerson Ward Mystery Book 2)
Still reeling from the murder of the woman he loved, Chicago freelance writer Emerson Ward accepts a job as a guest lecturer for a semester at his alma mater, a small college in upstate New York. So when one of his students, Bob Marter, comes to him with vague references to something evil happening on the sleepy, rural campus, Emerson ignores his pleas for help.
But Bob turns up dead, an apparent suicide, and Emerson is forced to listen to his intuition, which is telling him that he should have paid more attention to Bob’s concerns. Now he has to find out on his own what Bob knew that may have gotten him killed. Just when Emerson thinks he has it all figured out, another student dies, this time the victim of an apparent accident, and Emerson knows it can’t be coincidence. The deeper he digs for answers, the more he realizes he’s in over his head, and someone has raised the stakes dramatically. It isn’t about murder anymore, it’s about something far bigger and so wide-reaching that if Emerson doesn’t stop it he’s not the only one who will lose his life.
