Lucy Ann Polk was one of the most acclaimed jazz big band vocalists of the early 1950's having won the Downbeat "girl singer" poll two years in a row, in 1951 and 1952, when she sang for Les Brown's band.Make no mistake about it, this is not a Doris Day soundalike. Between 1948 and 1954, Les Brown had a top notch bebop band which included Don Fagerquist, Dave Pell, Wes Unsell, and many other jazz luminaries. Lucy Ann has a very sexy voice that really hits the mark. This album is a classic, featuring charts by Marty Paich, and recorded in Stereo at Radio Recorders in 1957.
