The M7 was used throught the Vietnam war up into the 1990s. The M10 Scabbard (black color) started to replace the M8/M8A1 scabbards in the 1980s they were lighter and eliminated the cotton canvas webbing of the M8/M8A1s which had a tendency to dry rot
